Carrington West Looking for Principal Highway Engineer at Central London Full Time

A long term opportunity has arisen for a Principal Highway Engineer to work on HS2. This role offers flexible/remote working and is deemed outside IR35.
 
The Role
 
As a Principal Engineer, you are expected to have a strong track record in the planning and delivery of a variety of highway projects. You will be a Chartered Engineer with experience of managing medium-size projects or managing packages on large projects. You’ll lead and develop an enthusiastic and committed team of Engineers and Technicians to deliver high quality output on projects and support the Associates in day-to-day management of the projects. Client care and repeat business is crucial to our clients success, so you’ll need to be able to develop and nurture relationships with their clients (both internal and external).
 
This position involves working on highway projects associated with HS2 and as such you will have a proven track record of leading highway technical teams, being able to advise on technical matters, as well as being able to review outputs ensuring work packages are delivered to the right quality, delivered on time and delivered within budget.
 
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
 
·Provide highway design and consultancy services under the direction of the line manager or project lead
·Management of design deliverables (including drawings, specifications and reports), site surveys, construction stage duties, client liaison with members of design/ construction teams, project management, costing and ensure progress against the project brief
·Check calculations and production of detailed drawings to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements
·Time, cost, quality, resource and delivery management including communication with the department and management to ensure that resource and project requirements are clearly understood and met
·Contribute to the preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimate sheets, scopes of work and change controls
·Monitoring of project fee spend and deliver commercial objectives including invoicing and Cost Value Report management
·Ensure team compliance with company quality management and best practice
 
Experience and Qualifications
 
·Chartered Member of ICE or similar approved
·Significant experience of delivering highway projects
·Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to eloquently present complex ideas
·Strong ability to develop enduring relationships with both internal and external stakeholders that deliver long term benefits
·Outstanding design, technical detailing and specification writing experience
·Be fully conversant with the basics of CDM Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes with respect to civils design and specification including a number of the following:
oTraffic loading assessments
oPavement foundations
oDesign of new pavement construction
oEarthworks and site investigations
oExternal works and drainage
