Design Engineer

Carrington West are pleased to be working alongside one of the UK’s leading environmental services companies, specialising in drainage and sewer services across a broad range of locations.

Due to continued commercial growth and company expansion, they are now looking to add to their team with an experienced Design Engineer. You will have a wide variety of responsibilities in terms of coordinating and overseeing the design process on a number of projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Creating the Design Brief – Technical ownership of and coordination of the design process and output, management of the design process using, where appropriate, consultants, sub-contractors, external planning and technical expertise.
• Ensuring the design process takes account of current legislation, statutory requirements, standards and international codes of practice.
• Liaising with the programme/project planner; leading the development and management of the design delivery schedules for each design discipline and coordinating these with procurement and construction programmes.
• Liaising with the commercial team; lead the development and implementation of design proposals, data, bid deliverables and reports within both the constraints of the contract (inclusive of BIM requirements) and internal commercial objectives.
• Providing advice and guidance on the ‘buildability’ of the design proposals to the design and construction teams.
• Identifying Design Risk and ensuring Design Risk Assessments are created and appropriately maintained for each project and that risks are managed and mitigated.
• Carrying out drawing reviews and ensuring all appropriate comments/observations are added to the design
• Coordinating the submission of information to satisfy Building Control compliance.

Essential criteria:

• Degree Level in Civil / Construction related
• Chartered Engineer
