Carpentaria Shire Council is offering an opportunity for the right individual to fill the position of Graduate Accountant. This position is designed to equip you with the technical know-how and confidence to help shape the future of local government.

This is the accessible outback – Where the Outback meets the Sea ® – with access to the townships of Normanton and Karumba either via commercial flights or driving on the sealed highways from Cairns or Mount Isa.

About the Opportunity

In addition to assisting with the development, planning, coordinating, compilation and preparation of annual budgets and financial statements, you will assist with the financial administration of Council controlled entities such as the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre, Visitor Information Centres, Aquatic Facilities and Child Care.

You’ll require a Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting or Commerce (Accounting Major) or be an undergraduate in your final year of study.

A current class C driver’s licence is essential for this position.
