Caroline County Public Schools Hiring for Teaching Assistants – English Learners at Denton, MD Full Time

JOB SUMMARY: To assist the school staff in the development and implementation of a safe, comfortable, efficient, and motivating educational environment for students in a general education setting/EL support classroom. Positions available throughout the county in secondary and elementary settings.Positions are located at various locations throughout the county; including Greensboro Elementary (GES), Denton Elementary (DES), North Caroline High (NCHS), and Lockerman Middle (LMS). QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must meet minimum requirements of 48 college creditsorpassing score of 455 on the Parapro assessment.
• Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Is skilled in creating and maintaining a wholesome relationship with children.
• Is articulate and accurate in the use of written and spoken language.
• Has good human relations and communication skills.
• Ability to use a computer.

Essential Functions

• Performs general instructional-related duties, including but not limited to, duplicating materials, preparing materials, and working with students to enrich or reinforce instruction.
• Works under the direct supervision of and in close proximity with a Maryland Certified instructor.
• Assists the instructor and other professionals through general supervision of students.
• Maintains required records and assists with classroom and/or student paperwork when appropriate.
• Provides instruction to students in accordance with the instructors plans and instructions in individual or small group settings.
• Provides one-to-one assistance enabling English Learners (EL students) to accomplish language acquisition skills as well as appropriate grade-level content knowledge.
• Promotes goodwill, understanding, and acceptance of the county’s programs and actions.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
