Carmichael UK Looking for Site Engineer – Tideway at Wapping Full Time

CarmichaelUK are looking for an immediate start Site Engineer for the Thames Tideway Project in East London.

The role will be involve heavy civils, reinforced concrete works, excavation, precast install and potentially some tunnel related works

The Applicant should demonstrate at least 3 years strong previous relevant experience on UK/London infrastructure projects. Experience in the following fields is essential. Previous involvement with construction of reinforced concrete structures is required, involvement within the water sector and/or heavy RC works. Any experience in civil works, excavation, demolition, Shaft or tunnel construction would be beneficial.

• Daily attendance at the 7.30am Point of Works briefing on site, attendance required to be in PPE and ready to commence works for the day.
• Issuing of Permits on a daily, weekly, or as required basis (Hot Works Permits, Permits to Dig, MEWP Permits etc). All permits to be issued prior to the start of works for the day (7.50am) on the day that they are required and all permits to be closed by 18:00 on the day that they run out.
• Completion of the daily report by 6.00pm of that same day, with all daily progress photos filed in the correct folder.
• Completion of detailed pre-pour checks prior to every concrete pour completed in the CSO, clearly marking up all relevant drawings and completing a check-sheet.
• Clear communication of any issues encountered while performing concrete pre-pour inspections to Senior and QA Engineers.
• Performing any setting out tasks requested by Senior Engineers, producing documented survey reports to clearly communicate the result of the survey.
• Point of contact for survey team including but not limited to issuing of SURF’s, organising and reviewing pre-pour checks and providing the Site Team with approval to proceed with the concrete pour.
• Producing MCRs documents for the inclusion of different materials in the permanent works.
• Producing RFI’s and FCR’s as required by Site Team.
• Producing RAMS updates and addendums and briefing the associated documents. These briefings should be recorded on the PDA and then the briefing logged on the RAMS briefing register.
• Crushing concrete cubes after concrete pours and clearly communicating the results to Senior Engineers and subcontractors. Cubes should be crushed approximately 24-48 hours after each pour or as requested by Sub-Contractor or indicated by design.
• Point of contact for d-wall breakthrough, MEICA and grouting works including site records and escalation of issues to Site Team.
• Completion of at least two Observation Cards per week on a SHE topic.
• Completion of TRM on a targeted risk as allocated by SHE Advisor. This needs to be completed as per the monthly TRM Rota. Actions and photos should be raised associated with the TRM, with the relevant parties and recorded on TIRA.
• Witnessing of Rescue Drills and reporting on TIRA once per month.
• Chairing SHE Committee Meeting as per Site rota (once every 3 months).
• Completing and presenting Weekly Progress Updates once every two weeks at the extended Start of Shift Meeting..
• Provide Site Inductions as per Site rota or as required by Site Team.
• Ground water monitoring involves updating logger graphs, reviewing data to ensure no unexpected offsite drawdown and communicating issues to Geotechnical Team for the monthly groundwater reporting. This activity is expected to be completed once a month and should take approximately 2 hours.
