Carmichael UK Looking for Civils Estimator at Manchester Full Time

A long-term opportunity exists for a career Rail Civils Estimator with an exceptional understanding of the impact external factors like blockades, signalling, OLE etc have on successful estimates. Previous experience producing estimates for rail projects that include the refurbishment and extension of platforms, laying of new track, drainage, improving and upgrading of over and underpasses, demolishing and constructing bridges, improving embankments etc. is sought after.

This post is a combination of remote and office work and falls within IR35.

Rates advertised are an indication only. Remuneration will be based on experience.

Your duties will include –

• Prepare estimates using the Rail Method of Measurement (RMM) with the use of Candy software.
• Co-ordinate and liaise with pre-construction team.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, PQS, supply chain, stakeholders and other third parties.
• Organise and prepare supply chain enquiries.
• Present estimate in conjunction at cost estimate review and settlement meeting.
• Coordinate with Bid Manager on all aspects relating to estimate
• Contribute to collecting and distributing of feedback.
• Prepare and hand over of tender estimating information to project team.
• Investigate cost effective and / or alternative solutions.
• Prepare tender summary and assist Bid Manager in costing risk registers.
• Comply with Company and Group bid governance procedures.
• Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.
• Use appropriate BIM / digital tools and promote the use of 3D, 4D and 5D techniques.

Requirements for this opportunity include –

• A career Civils Estimator with experience and an understanding of the rail sector
• A Civil Engineering qualification coupled with previous site engineering experience would be advantageous but not essential
• Exposure to large complex civil engineering rail projects for the likes of Network Rail
• A good understanding of the Network Rail GRIP system, methods of measure and able to cope with a less defined scope
• An aptitude and initiative to search for missing information that will impact the estimate
• Working knowledge of Candy (CCS) coupled with excellent IT skills
