ing to the Dining Room Manager, the Assistant Dining Room Manager is responsible for providing excellent quality dining experience by assisting the Dining Room Manager with overseeing all dining room staff and maintaining a pleasant and clean dining environment for our residents, their family members, and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists training of waitstaff, host and communication of service standards.
· Provides telephone coverage for dining services department and assists with reservations, meal bag orders and other areas as needed.
· Assists in the set up and planning of private parties and special functions.
· Communicates with housekeeping and maintenance departments to coordinate necessary services to maintain high standards of service.
· Assists with pricing service request forms for department charges.
· Immediately address and rectify all resident issues with food or service.
· Maintain cleanliness of all dining areas and equipment.
· Ensure that all daily billing and s are accurate.
· Provide direct supervision to dining room waitstaff/servers.
· Supervise daily operations of dining room and resident meal bag delivery
· Assign waitstaff to designated sections of the dining room and appropriate side work
· Inspect waitstaff work to ensure proper completion.
· Ensure resident mail bag orders are delivered to residents timely and properly
· Ensure smooth and timely opening and closing of the dining rooms.
· Ensure an adequate number of waitstaff for each shift and ensure absences are appropriately covered
· Oversee resident billing of food services charges
· Assist in producing weekly schedules with budgetary guidelines for dining room staffing levels
· Assist in the training of all new dining room associates and conduct required on-going training sessions.
· Provides supervision for special events.
· May assist waitstaff service during mealtime as needed.
· May assist in greeting and seating residents and guests as needed.
· Ensure the dining waitstaff works safely and adheres to the organization’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Required Skills:
· High School diploma or equivalent; college degree highly preferred
· 2 years’ experience in a dining room or 5* restaurant setting requiring clear communication with residents, staff, and personal interface with visitors, vendors, and contractors
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Effective communication with staff, residents, and families
· Must be customer service excellence oriented
· Ability to maintain a good relationship with residents, families, and staff, in a courteous, tactful, and discreet manner at all times
· Must enjoy working with older adults and be capable of walking and standing for long periods of time
· Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and to treat people with dignity and respect
