Network Engineer

Location: Longmont, CO

Schedule: Full Time

Salary: $135K-$155K

OVERVIEW

Caribou Thunder is seeking a Network Engineer to work closely with team members, vendors and Administrative and End user teams to ensure connectivity of primary and backup networks.

This role may plan software and hardware upgrades to meet program milestones and coordinate with functional groups with system upgrades and the integration of new capabilities.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM plus 9 years of experience
• 
  OR Master’s plus 7 years of experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain operations of a multi-user computer systems, virtual computer systems, COTS software products.
• Perform Network Administration and System Administration tasks within the scope of the contract.
• The network team is responsible for monitoring and correcting system performance issues, applying network configurations and leading network design efforts.
• Work with the SysAdmin and DevSecOps software team to maintain / update the database systems.
• Provide on-the-job training on system configuration.
• Assist in deploying software/hardware deliveries.
• Support special projects.
• Assist operational crews and contractor teams in resolving system and network issues

QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiar with Agile Methodologies and the full software development cycle
• Familiar with Cisco Nexus, ASA, FMC technologies for Software-Defined Networking and other networking products that are leveraged for a virtualized networking infrastructure.
• Knowledge of advanced networking concepts and networking design best practices into how it fits into a software development environment.
• Experience operating within Red Hat based environments
• Strong Troubleshooting skills
• Foundational understanding of routing and switching protocols
• Foundational understanding of TCP / IP, DHCP, DNS
• Foundational understanding of firewall policies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to utilize network maintenance and troubleshooting tools including but not limited to Wireshark, Splunk, Infoblox NetMRI
• Experience with Cisco Firewalls
• Complex system design and integration experience
• Security Certifications (Security +, CISSP, etc.) or equivalent
• Network Certifications (Network +, CCNA, CCNP, JNCP, etc.) or equivalent
• SAFe Certification on Scaled Agile
• Familiarity with UNIX, Linux, and Windows server administration
• Experience with shell scripting languages
• Experience with CHEF
• Familiarity with building and configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
• Familiarity with Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (NIDS / NIPS) (e. g Snort, Bro)
