The school is at an exciting time in its development and is on a rapid journey of improvement having recently achieved a Good in our recent Ofsted inspection.

The opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and passionate leader to embrace the role of Head of Education and work closely with the residential Registered Managers and the Head of School to continue the journey to being an outstanding provider of specialist education.

Purbeck View School is an independent Residential Special School catering for up to 47 students with a diagnosis of autism. The students are academically able and we have high expectations for all of our students to achieve the very best they can. Students are willing learners and engage enthusiastically in learning when staff utilise their creative skills to meet their individual learning needs. The school benefits from extensive grounds and well-resourced facilities and the learning environment is an excellent place to work and learn. There are many challenges to overcome and we understand the journey we are on to ensure the highest quality of education for all of our amazing students. The Head of Education will play a vital part in raising standards at the school and will have the full support of the Senior Leadership Group to drive further improvement.

With the support of the Head of School the successful candidate will lead the education team and liaise closely with colleagues to promote a person centered and forward-thinking waking hour partnership. You will work closely with the residential team to develop and implement high quality education for autistic learners. You will have a passion for creating and maintaining successful, meaningful opportunities that enable and maximise employability skills.

As the Head of Education, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of learning and student progress in the school, you will model and promote positive attitudes and relationships amongst staff, students and all other stakeholders, in keeping with the school’s vision and values. You will ensure the best possible outcomes for the students within the school, through robust monitoring and evaluation. You will lead on further developing the school curriculum to ensure we meet the individual needs of all of our students.

We are looking for a compassionate senior leader who has a strong background in affecting positive change and has an extensive knowledge of strategies to achieve the very best outcomes for young people. We are looking for someone who has a solid track record of success when it comes to student progress and attainment and is an enabler for children to learn, ensuring all children in our care receive the best educational opportunity.
