FUNCTIONAL SKILLS TUTOR – REMOTE BASED POSITION

About The Role:

As a Functional Skills Tutor you will work closely with the Apprenticeships Delivery Manager and other members of the apprenticeship department to ensure learners are on target to pass their functional skills. You will be supporting and developing student’s Maths and English up to level 2. This is a remote based role. You may be required to travel regionally to the student’s workplaces and support them whilst they complete their apprenticeship.

For This Role You Will Be Required Too:

• Tutor & develop Maths & English functional skills to apprenticeship learners.
• Develop and Deliver online Academy Room materials to remote classes.
• To maintain attendance registers, report on individual learner progress
• Manage the exemption process.
• Manage the examinations process ensuring that they meet awarding organisation requirements.
• Set up and manage the referral system.
• Prepare for and carry out EQA Functional skills visits and feedback to the Lead IQA and Apprenticeship manager.
• Keep up to date with all standards for Functional Skills.
• Deliver 1-2-1 Functional Skills support sessions as required.
• Record delivery of modules to support learners.
• Monitor and IQA SLC assessments to ensure that they are in line with the standards.
• Develop resources for functional skills.
• Support staff with functional skills concerns
• Report monthly on examination outcomes

Essential Skills:

• MUST BE suitably qualified and have a recognised subject specialist teaching qualification, e.g., PGCE, DTTLS, PTLLS. (Experience in Functional skills essential)
• Have a proven understanding of teaching and learning delivery methods.
• Professional, accountable, and responsible work ethics.
• An eye for detail, commercially minded and passionate about adding value.
• You must be reliable, flexible, adaptable, and possess the ability to motivate and inspire.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Must be able to multi-task, manage several deliverables simultaneously, work independently and be extremely flexible to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience of delivering online/remote classrooms (Desirable)
