Care Calgary Inc. is Looking for Accessible Minivan Operator Full Time

Care Calgary Inc. is looking for full and part time experienced and professional subcontractors to provide accessible transportation services for individuals with disabilities on behalf of Calgary Transit Access. This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate individuals who want to use their skills to make a positive impact while enjoying a stable income. This opportunity is for subcontractors thus the hourly rate will have GST added and contractors are responsible for operational expenses (fuel).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Transport passengers in a safe professional manner as per the specified schedule.
• Safely drive and operate the city-branded, accessible and non-accessible minivans vehicle at all times and in varying weather and road conditions.
• Assist passengers from door-to-door and in and out of the vehicle.
• Properly secure riders and mobility devices (including but not limited to service animals, walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, or other mobility devices) to ensure safe transport.
• Use the Mobile Data Terminal and technology for routing, trip management, customer information, and communication with Dispatch staff.
• Conduct detailed vehicle circle-check and maintain related documentation
• Report issues with passengers, locations, and vehicles as well as any emergencies in a timely manner and within the required deadlines.
• Professionally manage passenger needs and behaviour in an efficient and empathetic manner

Maintain service vehicle in good condition and report any issues in a timely manner

Requirements:

• Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License
• Clean driving abstract with no more than 3 demerits
• Ability to work long (10 to 12hrs) and flexible shifts, Fridays and weekends (minimum one day) is required
• Clear criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Check
• Excellent knowledge of the city with strong map reading and routing ability
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to physically push/pull mobility devices including up and down ramps.
• Highly organized with ability to manage tight schedules
• Exceptional customer service and people skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience working with individuals with a disability is an asset

Experience:

• driving: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Class 4 License in Alberta (required)
