Cardiff Metropolitan University Hiring for English Language Tutor Job at Cardiff, Wales Full Time

The opportunity

The English Language Training Centre (ELTC) provides English language and study skills teaching to international students, preparing them for progression in Cardiff Metropolitan University and other UK HEIs.

We are looking for a number of English Language Tutors to support us when our student numbers dictate. Despite the casual tenure, you will be very much part of the team.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.

You will be comfortable with face-to-face and online delivery in virtual classrooms.

What we are looking for

• Awareness of cultural issues facing international students studying in the UK.
• Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
• Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and IELTS standards and requirements.
• Knowledge of the study conventions of higher education in the UK.
• Working knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Powerpoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organisational and time management skills, a high level of attention to detail and initiative.
• The ability to work well as an individual or part of a team.
• The ability to adhere to internal and external regulations in terms of Quality Assurance and requirements of external agencies.
• Experience of working with people whose first language is not English.
• Teaching experience including the preparation and delivery of high quality teaching materials, teaching classes of varying sizes and levels, demonstrating differentiate learning and teaching methods – face to face and online.
• Flexibility and the ability to work cross-site.
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
• Qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language or relevant experience.
• Committed to Continued Professional Development.

On successful completion of the International Foundation Course or Pre-Sessional Course, students are able to progress onto undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the University (subject to having met any other offer conditions). We also deliver bespoke courses and support wider initiatives in the University.

Tutors can be asked to deliver on any of our courses, and delivery can include online lessons as well as face to face on campus delivery.
