About The Role
As the Unit Manager Finance, reporting to the Director Corporate Affairs, you will leading a significant, hardworking, and experienced team of finance professionals who are responsible for the delivery of management accounting, finance business partnering and financial operations.

The main purpose of the role is to deliver the financial statutory and legislative reporting requirements of council together with the delivery of proactive, quality analysis and evaluation of financial performance to Executives and Managers. Additionally, the role will require management of Councils financial operations through continually reviewing and implementing cost saving and revenue enhancement initiatives through a robust business financial management framework.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage the day-to-day function of Council’s financial operations and business processes ensuring operational integrity, effective governance, cash management and controls over transactions
• Develop comprehensive budgets and forecasts in accordance with the procedures adopted by Council and consistent with Local Government sector requirements
• Drive the delivery of Councils annual financial statutory accounts and legislated reporting requirements
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality monthly management reports, clearly interpreting the organisations financial position and key issues that create risk are reported
• Provide expert advice to the Directorates including costing structures, budget formulation (current and future business performance analysis) to support organisational decision making and ensure risks are mitigated
• Work closely with key stakeholders to formulate strategies and recommendations to optimise financial performance and improve the financial position of Council
• Successfully deliver outcomes, reporting requirements, projects and any other deliverables within approved budgets and within legislative or internal deadlines and timeframes

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with well-developed leadership abilities and who is passionate about delivering quality outcomes. To be successful you will be robust, pro-active and have proven success as a leader in developing teams and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders in a complex service delivery environment.

It is further expected that as well as being degree qualified in Finance or Accounting, you will be either CPA or CA accredited. Further, you will have extensive experience in the provision of specialist financial advice and the development of sound financial strategies referred from advanced financial modelling, project delivery and systems and process capability.
