Job Overview

Health Coordinator is responsible for the overall safety and wellness of students at camp. Report and work directly with the Camp Director to ensure a smooth camp experience.

Health Coordinator Expectations

• Be very familiar with New Jersey 2022 COVID-19 Youth Summer Camp Standards Guidelines and all other New Jersey Youth Summer Camp program guidelines.
• The Health Coordinator will (1) be designated as the camp’s COVID-19 point of contact, (2) be knowledgeable about COVID-19 signs and symptoms,and (3) The Health Coordinaor will be in charge of (1) promoting healthy COVID hygiene practices , (4) ensuring appropriate isolation and quarantining for those showing potential signs of COVID.
• You are the person keeping student safety as the priority for all activities
• You are responsible for collecting, monitoring and administering student medications as prescribed
• You assist students with ensuring food allergies are accommodated through conversations with necessary dining hall staff members
• You are the frontline to any and all medical injuries or illnesses
• You remain in constant communication with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director regarding any medical, injury, allergy, or other wellness related occurrences during camp
• You are present during all residential life activities to ensure safety and wellness precautions are taken
• Participate in approximately 3 hours of pre-camp staff meetings / planning Camp & Residential Life Directors
• Dedicate a minimum of 5 hours toward independent pre-camp preparation for each camp session
• You are required to live on campus with the students, and the rest of the summer camp staff, for two (2) weeks.

Drew University, Madison NJ: June 25 to July 7
The Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville NJ: July 9 to July 21

Requirements & Experience

The Health Coordinator must be over the age of 18 and be certified in advanced first aid, paramedic or emergency medical technician or first responder/CIM accredited by a certification agency approved by the Department as listed in “Recognized Certifications (CPR-First Aid-Lifeguarding-Trained Pool Operator),“

The Health Coordinator must have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and a strong attention to detail with regard to student safety, medication, and wellness. Previous work experience in a residential life/housing facility at a college or university is a plus. This position is required to attending training sessions before camp starts, as well as participating in our all-staff orientation and training the day before camp begins (Day 0).
