Capital Preparatory Schools Hiring for Principal- 2022-2023 (Grades 7-12) Job at Bridgeport, CT Full Time

The Principal will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent and serve as the head of the school’s leadership team. The Principal, working with the Academic Dean, Dean of Students, and Instructional Coach, will provide strategic and instructional leadership and will oversee teachers and lead students.

Responsibilities

The Principal will lead and manage all academic functions of the School. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• A highly effective teacher who has a clear track record of raising student achievement in an urban classroom for at least five years, particularly with scholars with identified learning challenges. You have significant experience working with students with emotional challenges and delayed social development. Familiar with de-escalation techniques and developing behavior intervention plans.
• An expert at translating academics standards and state assessment requirements into effective instructional design.
• A coach with demonstrated success in building and developing the leadership capacity in others.
• An excellent writer and skilled orator – the ability to easily connect with students, families, and staff and effectively tailor communication to multiple stakeholder groups.
• A data-informed leader, adept at data analysis; ability to extract meaningful insights across school-wide data.
• Establish and promote a positive culture of high expectations, continuous improvement, and a relentless focus on academic achievement for scholars and staff.
• Drive instruction: provide targeted coaching and professional development for teachers, evaluate and set goals for teachers, review lesson plans, and model effective instructional strategies.
• Manage, evaluate, and implement clear and effective procedures for the operation and functioning of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline and culture building systems.
• Actively monitor student and staff growth through a collection of formal and informal data; use data to inform short and long term strategic plan of the school.
• Plan and execute weekly staff professional development that improves teacher practice and scholar achievement

Skills and Qualifications:

• A Master’s Degree in Education and a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience;
• Must hold a valid Intermediate Supervisor Certification (092)
• Agreement with the academic goals and philosophy of the charter school;
• Knowledge of current educational research and issues;
• Demonstrated effective collaboration and communication skills;
• Demonstrated effective problem solving, planning and organizational skills;
• Demonstrated effective training and presentation skills;
• Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities;
• Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and implementation;
• Knowledge of Common Core Standards;
