About the Finance Group

The Finance and Legal Group’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams. The vision is for Canva to be recognised and commended by its peers and stakeholders as having a world-class Finance and Legal team.

About the Finance Operations (FinOps) Team

The FinOps team is the engine room of the Canva Finance Team – with functions such as GL Accounting, Treasury, Revenue Operations and Accounts Payable, the FinOps team make sure all the numbers get from every single source into our ERP platform and supporting the wider finance team with accurate and timely information to make the best financial decisions!

We’re a highly visible team, we’re growing rapidly, and the work we do has a huge impact in crafting the day to day and future operations of the Canva Finance Team and supporting the business at scale.

Who we’re looking for

Canva is looking for a Senior GL Accountant to support the growth of the accounting team processes at Canva. This is a critical role that will support the growth and development of the existing GL accounting team, supporting the growth of the accounting function as well as working with the Shared Services team and providing support to the Corporate Accounting and Commercial Finance Teams.

You will have a proven technical accountant background, enjoy problem solving, have some team management experience and know how to operate in a high growth environment. You are adaptable and have a strong appetite in learning new knowledge.

You are a team player, enjoy collaborating and rallying the team towards achieving its goals and always willing to lend a hand to your colleagues for the collective good. Your values and interpersonal approach will be a metric of success for this role.

You will work closely with the Sydney and Manilla based GL team, as well collaborating with our local finance teams in different jurisdictions.

We’re a fast-moving business so change is frequent and volumes will continue to grow, you’ll be comfortable working in a hands-on environment and have excellent communication skills.

• 
  Be the lead of a growing team of General Ledger Accountants and the team growth strategy : Supporting the existing team with personal and technical growth and development as well as strategising and driving the growth of the team to support the business needs.
• 
  Be a key driving force for operational improvement – Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and overall process improvement as we build and scale our Accounting Team.
• 
  You will be leading and overseeing the month end and year end close numbers across the wider Accounting Team and strategising and supporting initiatives to acquire outstanding monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Ad hoc involvement in wider finance / cross functional team projects and building strong relationships with the Corporate, Controllership, Technical Accounting and Finance Systems teams

• 4-6 years in a GL Accounting / Financial Accounting Role with knowledge and experience in transactional processing, reporting and related month-end processes.
• Self motivated with a strong desire to turn chaos into clarity
• Keen eye for details and the ability to identify and correct errors
• Highly organised with the ability to work within set deadlines
• Experience in project management, including working with cross-functional teams
• Strong ability to quickly identify both risks and opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on both process improvements and results.
• Advanced Excel & Google Sheet skills
• CA/CPA (or equivalent qualification) qualified
• Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Xero, SAP, Oracle, Workday Financials etc (NetSuite is a plus!)
• SaaS industry / startup environment experience is also a plus
