About the team

The Finance Effectiveness Team is a finance sub-team that primarily services the Finance Operations and Accounting Team at Canva. The mission of the team is to ensure the operational effectiveness of finance processes. This is achieved through a commitment in building and improving processes through an iterative approach, with a focus on scalability, efficiency and auditability.

As a relatively newly created team, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to contribute to the growth and development of the function through introducing and designing frameworks around business process mapping and process improvement.

About the role

Reporting to the Finance Effectiveness Lead, this role will work closely with our Finance Operations and Corporate Teams to ensure that business objectives are being met and delivered as part of Finance projects. You will work closely with the teams to deep dive into current processes, document this in a detailed and succinct manner, and support the successful design and delivery of process rollout and improvements projects.

The role will have also strong links with our Finance IT team in designing and delivering any system based solutions. In this role your work will impact all of Canva’s internal and external stakeholders. Learn from and work with some of Canva’s best talent, including Canva’s founders, engineers, product & growth professionals.

• Work with Finance stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into functional requirements and process flows
• Own the documentation and mapping of finance processes to fulfil analysis and compliance requirements
• Identify root causes of issues and areas for process improvement
• Identify risk areas and suggest opportunities for process control
• Collaborate with Finance and IT in developing overall solution design
• Support the planning and execution of testing in conjunction with Finance SMEs and the IT Team
• Create training documentation and provide training to process owners on new or changed processes/automations
• Develop, own and manage the Finance Team’s process and documentation repository
• Contribute to the overall maturity of the function through development of tools, templates and the process analysis framework

• Experience in a transformation, business analyst or process improvement role in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Knowledge and prior operational experience with Finance processes and systems
• Degree in finance, IT or systems or proven solid experience in a similar role
• Project delivery skills, from definition, solution ideation through to implementation
• Knowledge of Agile and Lean Six Sigma frameworks
• A track record of taking ownership and excellent collaboration skills
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning
