The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Vice President, Manufacturing will own establishing and executing the overall strategic framework for Canopy’s manufacturing, environment, health and safety, engineering and asset management programs, including optimizing manufacturing performance, consistency, yield, cost, product quality and enabling the new product development required to drive growth, enhance margin and gain market share.
Responsibilities
Evaluate existing manufacturing operations strategy, infrastructure, asset capabilities and capacity, resources, and skillsets within Canopy and build a business plan to develop an industry leading, customer driven advanced manufacturing program.
Develop and implement Manufacturing strategy aligned to deliver company plan, maximize effective capacity utilization, ensure consistent, high quality and effective cost management.
Establish data-based performance metrics, targets and visual management programs across all manufacturing operations, sub-operations and locations.
Establish industry leading Environment, Health and Safety Program and instill a Safety Culture across all teams and sites
Enhance gross margins through continuous COGs improvement across manufactured product lines
Own Manufacturing P&L, assess financial statements, measure productivity, determine and action cost reduction opportunities
Develop and lead Canopy’s engineering and asset management teams.
Build the teams and skillset necessary to execute all manufacturing programs with excellence.
Establish and instill lean six-sigma continuous improvement mindset across teams.
Generate, test and maintain Business Continuity Plans for all critical Manufacturing operations.
Partner with Supply Planning and Logistics peers to optimize end to end value chain
Work closely with cultivation and plant performance to understand average forecasted yields by cultivar and sourcing & procurement to make sure materials are scheduled to arrive in time for production
Coach, lead and mentor direct reports; establish succession planning within the overall operations department
Build, implement, monitor and execute an intentional and impactful employee engagement plan in the first 90 days in role.
Introduce Voice of Customer into manufacturing operations; through focused partnership with Commercial and Planning teams
Build and Deliver functional P&L budget

Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent experience.
MBA preferred
10-15 years’ experience working as an operations or supply chain professional in a CPG manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
10-15 years experience building, developing and leading large multi-site and skill-diverse teams
Proven ability to build manufacturing operations and drive significant quality, delivery and cost improvements
Demonstrated ability to achieve specific and targeted program results
Must be able to communicate effectively; from shopfloor to senior management in a clear, concise, and practical manner
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing P&Ls, including unit-based cost analysis and margin enhancement
High analytical skills and creative problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate and influence effectively with multiple levels of a matrixed cross-functional organization

This is a full-time role based out of Smiths Falls ON, with a remote work option and a 25-50% travel requirement.
