Canopius Hiring for Investment Accountant (Graduate) Job at London, England Full Time

Main Purpose:

This is an excellent entry level role for an individual keen to get an introduction to a career in the financial services industry. This role is responsible for assisting the Investment Reporting Manager in managing the investment accounting and reporting process and outputs for the Canopius Group. That being to ensure the timely delivery of complete and accurate investment information to the finance management team, investment management team and other stakeholders within the wider finance department in London, Singapore, Chicago and Bermuda.

Study support will be provided to gain qualifications in accountancy, treasury or investment management.

Main Responsibilities:

Monthly Investment Accounting & Reporting:

• To assist with all aspects of the monthly investment close process which includes elements of accounting for and reporting on the Group’s investment portfolio, whilst maintaining the governance and control framework in place
• Obtain all relevant investment valuation and transaction information from custodian banks, investment managers and administrators and ensure that the outsourced accounting provider has processed these correctly
• Processing summarised transactions to the Group’s general ledger systems and preparing reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Working closely with outsourced providers, the Investment Management team and other areas of Finance in order to resolve any issues or requests for information
• Preparation of the monthly investment pack and other reporting as necessary
• Involvement in the audit process
• Work collaboratively with other teams in the resolutions of queries, problems and in the improvement of team functioning
• Building strong relationships with other stakeholders within UK and overseas Finance teams
• Develop a good working relationship with WNS (outsourced financial service provider), ensuring delivery and fostering a collaborative culture
• Build and maintain a firm relationship with Clearwater (outsourced investment analytics service provider) ensuring delivery in terms of the service level agreement

Skills and Experience:

• Good numerical and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and focused on the delivery of high quality work within agreed deadlines – including thorough self-review and error checking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• A good understanding of other Microsoft Office apps including PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
