Canopius Hiring for Expense Accounting Apprentice Job at London, England Full Time

The Role:

Canopius is a global speciality lines (re)insurer. We are one of the leading insurers in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market with offices in the UK, US, Singapore, Australia and Bermuda.

This role is designed to give the successful candidate a good overview and understanding of the tasks performed within the Expenses team, a sub-team of the Financial Planning & Analysis team which is part of the Finance department.

The Expense teams consists of Head of Expense, Expense Business Partner, Accounts Payable Accountant, as well as offshore team resource, and the Expense Apprentice will support and assist across the whole team.

Study time and support will be provided towards a suitable qualification (AAT).

Responsibilities will include:

• Understand the data used for expense reporting and be able to identify and correct errors
• Support the team by producing good quality expense reports and management information
• Assist the team in the preparation of analytical work
• Gain an understanding of the concepts and principles of financial forecasting and budgeting
• Gain an understanding of the expense base of the business, the drivers of variances to budgets and how expenses fit into the overall management result and profit & loss account

Skills and Experience:

• Confident with the use of Excel skills
• Operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and ethics
• Demonstrates ownership, transparency, accountability and the ability to prioritise
• Demonstrates initiative, proactivity and academic curiosity
• Communicates using clear delivery and messaging
• Demonstrates a desire to learn and improve
