About the Role

Canberra Grammar School is seeking a passionate Receptionist / Learning Assistant is to provide the first point of contact for the Early Learning Centre. The Assistant provides general administrative support duties to members of the Primary School, predominantly the Early Learning Centre, and provides a key point of contact for all members of the community seeking to find information regarding Early Learning. The role also involves covering Teachers and Learning Assistants during break time or as needed across the day.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate, and possess the following –

As the Receptionist, duties are to:

• always act professionally
• be a welcoming presence in the school for children, families, and visitors
• carry out first aid and assist children if they are ill or upset
• support teachers, learning assistants, and educators with needs for their programs
• prepare and release electronic communication and maintain a calendar
• support the enrolment process with involvement in assisting new families
• assist with the organisation of catering and venues for events as necessary
• effectively communicate face-to-face, via phone and email
• assist with student attendance records and contact parents to follow up on student absence or to collect children
• assist with the ordering of resources and equipment
• assist with the organisation and tidiness of shared spaces and storage areas
• maintain stationery stores and order new resources and materials as required
• organise accounts to be paid

As Learning Assistant, duties are to:

• collaborate with staff to provide a supportive and nurturing learning environment
• engage and interact respectfully with children and educators
• assist the teacher and educators as required
• be responsive to the needs of the Early Learning Centre
• assist with school duties across the day
• cover breaks across the day
• adhere to all the professional responsibilities of an early year’s educator
• continue to build an understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and IB PYP
