*This position has 12hr rotating shifts, with fully paid benefits available after 3 months.
Position Summary
The Plant labourer is responsible for the company’s equipment & technology maintenance practices. This includes the assisting the plant manager in commissioning and operating of new equipment/technology. The Plant labourer is also responsible for the conduct of its relationships with equipment and parts suppliers, the maintenance of existing equipment and the preparation reports on potential new equipment purchases.
Assist in the maintenance of the equipment and technology affairs of the organization(s).
The Plant labourer has the responsibility for providing effective mechanical/equipment support, process, and operation for the organization.
PLANNING
Proactively promotes workplace health and safety collaboratively by assessing and addressing hazards, completing training, understanding, and following safety policies, processes and procedures and providing input and feedback for safety improvements.
Ensures personal safety and safety of others by being accountable to engage in the prevention and immediate correction of identified safety issues (hazards, damaged equipment, etc.), including stopping unsafe work where imminent danger to workers/bystanders exists and issues are effectively addressed before proceeding in a safe manner.
Immediately reports accidents, incidents, near misses and/or treatment, regardless of severity, to the area supervisor for appropriate follow up and resolution.
Actively participates in Safety Committee activities and/or safety meetings (Toolbox) as required.
Wears applicable Personal Protective Equipment (in good condition) as required.
Takes action to care for the environment by participating in recycling activities and minimizing negative impact to the environment.
Ensures that work done is planned out and completed as safely and efficiently as possible.
This role considered to be safety sensitive.

WORK ACTIVITIES
Assists with loading, unloading and stocking of materials.
Assists with the movement of projects during the manufacturing process and the preparation and loading of finished products for shipping.
Completes maintenance of equipment from various divisions of the company.
Ensures general shop housekeeping is kept up according to shop protocol and that safety hazards are removed or flagged whenever possible.
Submits timesheets for accurate project tracking and time allocation.
Prepares reports to show cost/benefit analysis of maintenance operations and programs.
Is required to work with various managers to assist with any plant shutdowns to ensure maximum efficiency while workers are performing maintenance duties, as well as plan for integration of new equipment, technologies or processes into existing production systems.
