About this role:
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Biomedical Technologist to join our dynamic Equipment Services team in Vancouver. In this role you will be responsible for the Biomedical Equipment Program, providing technical equipment support in various aspects of electronic and biomedical engineering. The incumbent is also responsible for providing support services for installations, validation, calibrations, inspection/preventative maintenance, performance assurance and repairs on an ongoing basis of all site equipment involved in the collection, manufacturing, processing, storage and delivery of blood and blood components, in accordance with the applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include:
Development, implementation and maintenance of Biomedical Equipment Program to meet Site and/or manufacturer’s recommended operational standards.
Inspect, test, adjust and evaluate incoming electrical, electromechanical and electronic components and assemble where necessary to ensure conformance with product specifications and tolerances.
Responsibility for the development and carrying out of preventative maintenance duties which includes; scheduling, calibration, preventative maintenance, trending and analysis, etc.
Complies with all regulatory Standard and/or Centre operating policies, procedures and regulations, used in the manufacturing processes.
Consults and provides professional advice in the acquisition of new equipment, related performance assurance, etc.
Supervises external service representatives when they are on site.
Education, Training and Experience:
Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a two-year Diploma in Biomedical or Electronic Engineering Technology.
A minimum of three to five years’ experience in repairing and maintaining blood collection/clinical laboratory equipment, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Experience with documentation equipment service record systems in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is an asset.
Knowledge of electrical safety codes is essential.
Membership in the professional organization for Biomedical or Electrical Technologists is an asset.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of SOPs, Equipment Operators’/Instruction/Service Manuals, Manufacturers’ Guidelines and Standard Safety procedures is an asset.
Knowledge of GMP and ISO 9000 is an asset.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Prior experience with an electronic maintenance program is essential.
Experience with documentation of equipment service record systems in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is an asset.
Strong mechanical experience and knowledge is an asset.
Knowledge of refrigerators, freezers and incubators and the ability to perform minor repairs is an asset.
Must be reliable, accurate and capable of working independently.
Additional Information: Monday – Friday 0730 – 1530. Rest days: Saturday/Sunday
