Canadawide Scientificis a 100% Canadian owned company serving the scientific and industrial communities across Canada since 1976. We offer a broad range of analytical instrumentation, field and laboratory equipment, everyday supplies and chemicals for an infinite number of applications.

We are looking for a dynamic, organized and results-oriented individual to join our purchasing team.

Responsibilities

Purchasing:

• Place purchase orders on a timely basis
• Source new products
• Negotiate best prices
• Develop and foster strong supplier relationships
• Run / review replenishment reports and take appropriate action
• Resolve price discrepancies, delivery problems and non-conformances with suppliers
• Monitor, maintain and follow up on expected delivery dates with suppliers
• Plan purchase orders and deliveries to support customer requirements

• Pursue alternate suppliers or substitute products for items on long back order
• Liaise with the sales department to provide updates on discontinued items, price changes, delivery dates and product specifications to ensure superior customer service

Supply Chain Management

• Develop and maintain an extensive network of supplier partners
• Provide reporting, analysis and feedback on supplier costs and performance levels
• Create and maintain new and existing vendor files
• Negotiate supply agreements and contracts with Vendors
• Identify alternate (secondary) suppliers to improve delivery delays, reduce costs and mitigate the risk of product interruption
• Update and maintain vendor price lists and discount and incentive programs

Logistics

• Monitor and manage inbound freight to improve service levels and reduce costs
• Work closely with our customs broker to ensure timely movement of goods
• Work with carriers to resolve issues related to lost shipments, late deliveries, damaged goods in transit, etc.

Inventory Control

• Maintain data integrity in the purchasing database
• Investigate stock discrepancies, process inventory adjustments and maintain accurate inventory data
• Participate in inventory counts/cycle counts
• Analyze and recommend optimal order points based on service level requirements, production runs, turns and lead times

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• This position is open to all candidates wising to gain further experience in the purchasing field. Previous experience in a purchasing role and / or experience in a scientific or chemical manufacturing environment are added assets but not necessary.
• Previous training (academic or professional) or exposure to programs related to the sciences, procurement, logistics, inventory control, supply chain management and negotiating skills is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
• Strong proficiency in Excel
• Good command of MS Office
• Strong time management and organization abilities
