Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Cutting Room Supervisor will report to and follow the cutting priorities set by the Production Manager/Cutting Hub Manager. Responsibilities include communicating daily cutting requirements to the cutting and spreading operators, based on the cutting schedule, marker guidelines and cutting specifications. Also, provide daily direction and supervision to the Cutting Department and both shifts, where applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor Cutting Schedule and plans to produce cuts according to dates and fabric availability
• Supervise Cutting Room Operators; act as the main point of contact for inquiries
• Provide recuts and repairs on request of sewing department and maintains records
• Supervise the cutting of samples, patterns, pockets and any special cutting request for Product Engineering or management
• Work with Marker Making to ensure accuracy and efficiency of marker
• Spread and cut lays according to markers provided by Marker Making and by Cutting Orders
• Verifies quality of issued fabric and informs QA of any issues
• Work with QA to maintain cut quality
• Responds to inquiries from management
• Look for ways to increase efficiency on an ongoing basis
• Maintains daily records of spreading, cutting and recuts
• Oversee the maintenance of the Cutting Room, ensure it is neat and organized
• Monitor the maintenance of all equipment
• Monitor and orders supplies as required
• Inform Warehouse of POs needed for fabric order pick in a timely manner
• Is involved with all Cutting Room projects involved with cutting capacity and cost savings

Experience, Education and Designations:

• Diploma or Equivalent in a Garment Manufacturing Technology or related experience
• Minimum 5-7 years’ of experience managing a cutting department in an apparel manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Strong planning and organization skills required to maintain a constant flow of work, and to achieve consistent production results

Effective interpersonal skills to be able to manage and motivate workers

Familiar with a range of cutting equipment including equipment used for spreading manual and automated, and cutting, manual and computerized

Ability to work independently

Strong initiative to consistently meet deadlines

Detail-oriented

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on a daily/regular basis

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to work in a noisy factory environment

Open to challenges and change

Available to work shifts and weekends, as required
