Job Description

The Associate Designer will support, own and execute on all aspects of product design as led by the Senior Designer. Working closely with the design team, the Associate Designer will partner on a continuous basis to support premium product, the consumer experience and the Canada Goose brand. The Associate Designer will collaborate cross-departmentally to support and build a strong seasonal assortment that relates to Canada Goose. Exceptional project and time management skills are a must, paired with the ability to engage the existing core audience while seeking new ways to build the premium global brand.

Key Responsibilities:
Working with the Senior Designer and Design Team to observe and own seasonal calendar, as it relates to the company calendar

Responsible for researching designing a designated number of styles from concept to proto approval, as directed by Design Leadership.

Responsible for working closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives.

Entering all data required into PLM and updating as required for all styles owned by the Senior Designer

Participate in seasonal product and concept research to support the Design Team.

Work closely with PDE partners to communicate designs, BOMs and updates/changes throughout the proto process.

Support the Senior Designer in all fits, be the design voice in fittings on designated styles.

Work with the Materials department to develop and adopt fabrics and trims

Collaborate with the Senior Designer and the Senior Director, Design to create and publish the seasonal color palette and seasonal direction overview

Work with Raw Materials team to support color development as needed

All other duties as assigned

Experience, Education and Designations:
BA hons Degree or above in Fashion Design

2 – 4 years working experience within a Fashion / Garment Design role or related position

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Computer Skill; included proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is essential

Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives

General knowledge of patternmaking and critical product construction

General knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims)

Excellent presentation skills of both designs and creative concepts

CAD development skills for construction of garments and merchandised presentations

Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) suggested

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Well organized and proficient in time management

General knowledge of line merchandising

Able to research independently

Has a critical eye on the market, runway and current trends

Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing

Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations

Ability to work in a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion

Working Conditions:
Office & Manufacturing environment

Travel Required: less than 10%
