Camp Ocean Pines Hiring for Cook at Cambria, California Full Time

A jewel on California’s Central Coast, we sit on thirteen acres of Monterey Pines above the Pacific Ocean. A work environment like no other! Camp Ocean Pines is a year-round camp, serving kids, families, school groups, and adult retreats. Our guests experience great service, excellent food, and important programs. Camp can hold up to 100 people, but groups range in size from 10-100 people.

A cook prepares meals for guests. This includes food prep, some menu planning, baking, maintaining a tidy and sanitary kitchen, and cleaning. We pride ourselves on serving delicious food made from scratch, with menus that reflect a diversity of ethnic cuisines, dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), and guest preferences. Cooks must have some experience working in a commercial kitchen, although we are willing to train the right candidates to be a lead cook based upon their previous experience. Cooks are supervised by the Food Service Manager and the Head Chef works with other cooks and kitchen help, and are responsive to the needs of program staff and guests.

Camp Ocean Pines can serve three meals a day, seven days a week, although most weeks only have 15-18 meals. You would not be expected to work every meal since you are a part of a larger team. Shifts could include mornings (~6:00 am – 2:00 pm) or afternoons (~1:00 – 9:00 pm), and includes weekends. We also host public events, weddings, and other opportunities.

Part-time (15-30 hours/week) or full-time (30-40 hours/week) positions available. Full-time employees qualify for benefits, including 100% medical/vision insurance. Housing available.
