Calvary Lutheran Preschool Hiring for Preschool Director/Teacher Full Time

Calvary Lutheran Church is seeking a passionate and innovative teacher and leader who will oversee our growing preschool rated 4-stars by Parent Aware. Our mission as a church is to lead all people to a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ, and this starts with our 3-5 year old students enrolled at Calvary Preschool. The Preschool Director will be a lead teacher for one class, supervise and lead a team of seven staff, adhere to licensing requirements, oversee daily operations, and prepare budgets. This role s directly to the Business Administrator.

Hours: 35-40 hours per week.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead Teacher

• Develop weekly plans and implement age appropriate curriculum to educate the whole child
• Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
• Perform on-going developmental evaluations of children and develop and execute lesson plans that address the individual needs of each child
• Plan, evaluate and improve the physical environment in the classroom to create opportunities to meet the changing needs of the developing child

Staff & Volunteer Oversight

• Supervise preschool teachers and assistants.
• Hire and train new staff members.
• Provide professional development opportunities for staff.
• Provide personalized coaching to staff in the classroom.
• Assist staff in communicating with parents.
• Substitute in the classroom as needed.
• Recruit members of the Preschool Advisory Team and develop plans for family involvement, parent communication, and fundraising as necessary.

Business Management

• Establish policies and communicate them to staff and parents.
• Develop educational programs and standards.
• Prepare budgets and allocate program funds.
• Ensure that facilities are maintained and cleaned according to licensing requirements.
• Maintain all student files and other licensing paperwork.
• Maintain Parent Aware rating.

Mission Focus

• Ensure that Calvary Church’s mission to lead all people to a lifelong faith in Jesus Christ is at the core of the preschool teachings.
• Represent Calvary Preschool within the community and to families interested in the school.
• Work closely with the church staff team to integrate engagement opportunities for preschool children and families alongside church activities and ministries.

Required Qualifications:

• Associates degree or greater in education (Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education is preferred)
• Five or more years of experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
• Experience in early childhood education is preferred
• Must be able to successfully complete a background check through the Minnesota Department of Human Services
• Willingness to complete necessary training in First Aid, CPR, and Abusive Head Trauma

• Physical ability to sit on the floor or low chair and to squat down to be at eye level with children
