Title: Accounts Payable Associate

Reports to: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Job Purpose

The Accounting Associate is responsible for providing support for accounting processes including routine and non-routine functions in accounts payable and general accounting. The Accounting Associate will report directly to the AP Supervisor and be responsible for providing complete, accurate and timely accounting services to our Retail Business Unit locations. The successful candidate must be a team player who possesses a positive attitude and is self-motivated, energetic, detail-oriented, organized, analytical and resourceful. He/she must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and exercise independent thought.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Verify 3-way match for inventory invoices
• Conduct weekly check runs
• Obtain necessary approvals and enter invoices (weekly, >100)
• Establish new vendor files and maintain W-9s for annual 1099 data
• Reconcile accounts payable subsidiary ledger to general ledger
• Review accounts payable batches for accuracy
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Research and correct discrepancies
• Maintain accounts payable files in an organized manner
• Assist with month end close
• Maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues
• Ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures and incorporate procedural improvements when necessary
• Assist with audit requests
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Associates degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounts payable position
• Strong PC skills with proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel
• Experience with Epicor and/or QuickBooks accounting systems preferred
• Demonstrated consistency in values, principles and work ethic
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
