Calibre Search Looking for Senior Bridge Engineer at Birmingham, West Midlands Full Time

A UK Wide major consultancy are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer to join their Bridge team to join their Birmingham office and work on National Highways, local authority and major Network rail schemes.

This role can offer a huge range of bridge design, assessment and inspection work, with projects including; the Ely Southern Bypass, a brand new multi 300m long viaduct and 100m bridge crossing two railway lines, the St Albans Bridge a bridge strengthening scheme to lift the 7.5T weight limit and the Luton DART which is a 72m span structure.

At Senior level in this consultancy you will still be expected to be heavily involved in detailed design so knowledge and practical experience of LUSAS, SUPERStress and MIDAS would be essential when applying for the role. Alongside these responsibilities you will be given the freedom to run your own schemes and be involved in client liaison and programme management.

Essential Senior Bridge Engineer Requirements

• Minimum of four years experience post-graduation in civil engineering design
• Minimum of three years’ experience in the design of bridges (including loading to Eurocodes, element design and detailing to Eurocodes)
• Experience of bridge loading to Eurocodes
• Experience of steel and concrete design to Eurocodes
• Experience in computer software for the analysis of structures
• Production of design deliverables – packages of drawings, specifications, etc. and supervision of engineers and BIM/CAD technicians

Desired Senior Bridge Engineer Requirements

• Ideally experience of composite steel/concrete, masonry, geotechnical and timber design to Eurocodes
• Ideally experience in finite element software for the analysis of structures
• Good communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to work on own and within a team to meet project, client, company and personal objectives
• A challenging attitude to the solution of engineering problems in order to achieve cost effective designs and develop innovative solutions
• Awareness of the importance of costs and the need to complete projects on time and to budget
• Willingness to seek advice when unsure of how to tackle problems

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng
• Working towards Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE)
