A dual-office Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy based in Chorley are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to work on a very diverse range of projects from small-scale Residential schemes all the way through to Defence and Nuclear.

The Structural team in Chorley numbers at 7 with a total of 10 staff in the office. The company have recently had a large influx of work and are in a strong position to add to the team. They also have a second office located further north near to the Cumbrian border.

They’re ideally looking for someone who can join the team and assist largely in a technical capacity but also aid the two Directors with running the office, managing juniors and keeping the office running smoothly. Candidates up to Associate level will be considered.

They’re relatively flexible regarding specific project-sector experience, but the ideal Principal Structural Engineer will:

• Have at least 8 years’ experience of working in a busy general engineering office looking over broad range of structural issues.
• Ideally be a Chartered Structural Engineer though Technician qualifications and suitable experience will certainly be considered.
• Have experience with the Residential sector
• Living reasonably locally to Chorley
• Experience in the design of foundations, retaining walls, steelwork, timber, masonry and portal frame type along with other industrial and commercial buildings
• Experience in the appraisal of existing buildings and writing reports
• Ideally and preferably be Security-Cleared or have eligibility for Security Clearance in order to work on Defence and Nuclear projects.

We are offering a salary commensurate with the level of experience that is offered, meaning it will depend on your current level.. However, the position will have a salary of at least £45,000 but a greater figure is certainly available to right person, ideally around £55,000 plus benefits including 25 days’ holiday and employer contributory pension.
