Calibre Search Looking for Highways Engineer at Manchester, Greater Manchester Full Time

I am currently working with a Local Authority to assist them with the much-needed growth in the Highways Engineering team. They are looking for Design engineers to join their established team and assist with the detailed design of a plethora of schemes. These include Improvement schemes, active travel cycleways, bus route upgrades and many more.

You will be designing these schemes using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, KeySign and KeyLign. If you have experience using these software’s it would be extremely desirable but if you don’t, please don’t be put off applying. If you have a good understanding of the schemes mentioned above and want to learn the skills to manipulate these software’s please do still apply as this team can offer the training and support to allow you to learn these.

Qualities and experience required

• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
• Demonstrable capability in the planning and delivery of minor highway projects or work packages on large projects.
• Experience to undertake highway geometric design in accordance with the DMRB, and desirably Manual for Streets, using Civil 3D or AutoCAD
• Experience with the preparation of budgets, monitoring and reporting.
• Have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel
• Have a strong understanding of civil engineering design principles
• Delivery of various highway design projects within a multi-disciplinary design team
• Good problem solving / contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions
• Demonstrate pride in work through accurate timely delivery
• Inquisitive and curious

Preferred:

• Experience of Civil 3D, AutoCAD and MicroDrainage preferred.
• Delivery of local authority design projects
