Calibre Search Looking for Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer at Manchester, Greater Manchester Full Time

I am looking to speak with an incredibly bright Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer with a passion for Hard Rock Engineering, Tunnelling and/or Underground Space, situated within the Manchester area to work for an extremely well respected SME ground engineering design consultancy that pride themselves on technical excellence and critical thinking, working at the sharp end of design.

The is a very unique position, especially within the Manchester region, working for an award-winning SME ground engineering design consultancy with an ethos in creating innovative and sustainable solutions for some of the most complex problems at lightning speed.

This position suits a Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer with an excellent education background, that has a real love for ground engineering and a passion for solving extremely complex solutions on a wide range of the UK’s and Internationals most challenging projects within the heavy civils, underground space, tunnelling, mining and mineral sector.

Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer, typical responsibilities surround; technically delivering sustainable solutions with a numerical and/or an FE approach, TBM Parameters, hard rock engineering, watering strategy, managing/controlling risk in the ground, ground movement assessments, characterising risk, soil stabilisation, soil nails, ground treatment, all types of designs and analysis, eliminating risk all whilst put on a fast track chartership program.

Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer Specification

• Education – Civil/Structural Engineer or Geology coupled with an MSc in Hard Rock Engineering, Underground Space, Mining or Tunnelling.
• Consultancy design experience within the hard rock/tunnelling sector.
• Ideally experience within ground movement assessments, tunnel/excavation design, stabilisation, soil nails, ground treatment TBM Parameters, FE modelling.
• Highly numerical and thrive on solving seriously complex solutions.
• Be able to work collaboratively across the business.
• Have a serious passion for engineering and solving problems.
