Calibre Search Looking for Geotechnical Engineer at Winchester, Hampshire Full Time

An excellent opportunity has come available for a Geotechnical Engineer that specialises in geotechnical detailed design to work for an International multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering some of the UK’s most prestigious schemes. You will also have the chance to work within a small team, directly under the Associate Director acting as a number two within the office of Winchester.

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be a part of a wider multi disciplinary team with geotechnical engineers throughout other offices including CPD mentoring for the ICE chartership program giving you a wide range of experience on schemes such as rail, roads, tunnels, water, ports and buildings.

I am looking to speak with a well experienced Geotechnical Engineer that can demonstrate competency within; desk studies, interpretation, GIR & GDR reports along with,

• Detailed geotechnical analysis and design including use of analytical software including Repute, WALLAP, Deep-EX, Plaxis (2D & 3D), Slope/W, Seep/W, Pdisp, Holebase, Leapfrog, and structural programs including STAAD and Tekla Tedds.
• Undertaking geotechnical calculations including pile design, pile group analysis, retaining wall design, shallow foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability analysis and seepage analysis. Whilst having the ability to undertake hand and/or spreadsheet calculations using traditional soil mechanics formulae to cross-check / validate analytical computer outputs.

Geotechnical Engineer specification:

• First class degree in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering along with a relative MSc.
• Approaching chartership with the ICE, I would also consider a chartered engineer.
• Well-rounded knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and design principals
• Experience in the application of Eurocodes to geotechnical design
• Experience of geotechnical design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, retaining walls, embedded walls, piles / pile groups, soil nails, ground improvement, and other ground works.
• Detailed design of geotechnical works and production of drawings & technical specifications for construction.
