Calibre Search Looking for Associate Highway Engineer at North West Full Time

A national, multi-disciplinary consultancy are looking for an Associate Highway Engineer with a wealth of Highways Engineering experience to join their quickly growing Manchester team. For this role you will be required to be a Chartered Engineer with at least 10-15 years experience in the design, management and delivery of Highways and Infrastructure schemes.

As an Associate Highway Engineer Your daily responsibilities will be, design team management of junior engineers and technicians, project management, client liaison and delivery to both public and private clients. You will be undertaking these responsibilities on Active Travel, Junction Improvements, Road Alignments, New link roads and much more across the UK, working closely with the other offices including Leeds, Leicester, Newcastle and London.

You will also be required to fully immerse yourself in developing new opportunities for the consultancy by being at the forefront of Business Development and supporting the bidding process so previous experience of preparing tender documents and winning new work is essential so please have this in mind when putting your application for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing schemes for tender using the NEC3 family of Forms of Contract, Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works including use of Specification for Highway Works and the Standard Method of Measurement.
• Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems, and identifying of options.
• Supervising and monitoring works on site, making valuations for payment assessments, chairing and managing progress meetings, identification and assessment of additional payments due to variation orders or compensation events, determination of project final accounts and completing the defects period.
• The ability to set and work to personal deadlines and targets to meet the requirements of programmes of work, to meet clients’ needs and to respond to targets set by others.
• Ensuring compliance of the team’s work with a high regard to Health and Safety and the application of the CDM Regulations and other legislation.

Qualifications

• A Bachelors or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council OR you will already be or fast approaching Chartered Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE).
• A minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in the design, implementation and supervision of all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction
