It is important the children in Calderdale receive an education that will help them to achieve. To support this ambition Calderdale are looking to a recruit an Education Welfare Officer to working within a multi-disciplinary framework. The post holder will provide a service which fulfil the council’s statutory duties as required. The post holder will have a caseload of Electively Home Educated children to monitor and ensure that suitable education is taking place. This will comprise 50% of their allocated caseload.
The role involves assisting in the development of a partnership between home and school to encourage active participation and involvement by parents and carers in educational issues as well as contributing to narrowing the gap by providing advice and guidance to School Staff in relation to the management of pupil attendance and access issues.
Applications will be considered from those who hold a relevant degree and can demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of education policy and the legislative framework and the ability to communicate such policy to clients, schools and other professionals.

Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
