Primary Purpose:
The Human Resources Specialist promotes organizational excellence by supporting and sustaining a culture that values all colleagues, fosters teamwork, recognizes and rewards exceptional performance, and supports the achievement of personal and professional goals. Specifically, the Human Resources Specialist assists and supports the Human Resources team performing tasks related to talent acquisition, retention and development; human resources administration and management; and organizational program implementation and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Works closely with regional human resources staff to support human resource operations including but not limited to:
  • Assists with telephone screenings, assessments, and interviews
  • Completing reference checks for potential new hires
  • Completing monthly HR s as requested
  • Accurately entering data into various HRIS systems
• Assists with the coordination and implementation of activities such as document preparation, presentations, spreadsheets, etc.
• Participates on the R3-HR teams by:
  • Attending R3-HR meetings
  • Joining R3-HR calls
  • Actively working with groups on special projects
• Participates in college recruiting initiatives, attends career fairs for recruiting and company recognition, develops working relationships with colleges regarding sponsorships and speaker opportunities, and may give presentations at colleges to increase awareness of Cadence Insurance
• Upon request, assists in the hiring process by coordinating human resources staff to produce compliant offer letters, validating templates for producer hires, and employment agreements
• Upon request, assists with onboarding and orienting new employees according to established procedures and as detailed on the New Hire Checklist
• Begins to develop a professional network and stay abreast of industry and human resources topics and trends through research, active association memberships, meeting and conference attendance, social media and other team members; Works to achieve an active HRCI or SHRM certification
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested
• Regular and reliable attendance

Qualifications:
Education/Designations

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Skill Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically, Word and Excel and/or G Suite products including Gmail, Docs word processing, Sheets, and Drive cloud storage
• Strong technical aptitude using human resources information systems
• Quick learner, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and improve performance through management feedback
• Attention to detail; organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
• Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resource work
• Ability to work independently and take initiative and implement continuous improvement opportunities
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work and partner effectively with others
• Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills

Work Experience

• 2 years of related experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, sales professionals, carriers and staff
• Ability to stand or sit at a workstation during a standard workday
• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
• Ability to move about the office to access office machinery and supplies

• Ability to work and meet challenging deadlines and expectations
• Job entails meticulous attention to detail
• Must perform well with frequent interruptions or distractions
• Ability to quickly adjust priorities, focus and direction as circumstances dictates
