Job Summary
Provides students with academic instruction of the highest standards, evaluates student progress, assist in preparation of syllabi and re-evaluation of curriculum, assist in activities furthering the work of the institution, communicates necessary information to students, provides mentoring, serves as role model, provide academic advice to students as needed and serves on standing and ad hoc committees as needed.
Faculty shall be responsible to:
General Education faculty are responsible to the Director of Nursing (DON) and with the Chief Administrator Officer (CAO). They assist and support Administration in carrying out the academic goals, vision and mission of the Practical Nursing Program.
General Education Instructor Duties:
· Provide competent instruction in the clinical and theoretical areas of nursing.
· Provide teaching leaning strategies that engage students and promotes the critical thinking process.
· Maintain high standards and promote excellence in education.
· Serve as a role model for students in professional interaction with other healthcare workers and within clinical facilities.
· Participate in and contribute to the team-teaching of classroom and clinical courses and model team-enhancing behaviors of students.
· Development, implementation and evaluation of the purpose, philosophy and objectives of general education courses.
· Assist the DON in scheduling and confirming use of clinical sites.
· Maintain relationships with clinical sites and professional peers that support the reputation of the program.
· Assist the DON in design, implementation and re-evaluation of curriculum for the nursing education program.
· Participation in academic advising of students.
· Participate on the Advisory Council and Disciplinary Team as needed.
· Participate in the development and ongoing evaluation of student policies.
· Participate in the ongoing accreditation process of the program.
· Evaluation of student performance in meeting the objectives of the program.
· Collect, record, maintain and submit accurate class records including grades, absences withdrawal and/or class drop information to appropriate offices.
Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work, in meeting classes, and in keeping office hours
