OVERVIEW
C Speed is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support our radar development, test, and integration operations for our Integrates Surveillance Solutions (ISS) group. We develop high-quality, custom engineered hardware and software for commercial and government applications. Our engineering team is a diverse group specializing in application and embedded software, high performance analog and digital systems, signal processing, advanced product integration, and rugged system packaging.
This position will work within a cross-functional team of product development and support engineers and will be responsible for performing engineering tasks related to radar and sensor design, development, integration, and test to support on time delivery of custom integrated radar and other sensor solutions. They will also participate in initial system deployment (both CONUS and OCONUS), installation and test efforts that incorporate a wide range of mechanical and electronic equipment and subsystems.
This role will also assist engineering and program needs by developing and supporting configuration management and data management and control. The designated work location can be remote and will require travel to C Speed’s offices and various customer locations on an as-needed basis.

POSITION SUMMARY
  • Mechanical design of radar and sensor system structural elements including, electronics and cable assemblies, routing, shielding, cooling systems, and ground support equipment within established size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements.
  • Mechanical design and analysis supporting electronic packaging of power and signal components (microwave, RF, digital), cabling/wiring distribution, structural and thermal analysis, and environmental test.
  • Perform design analysis including stress, strain, and tolerance.
  • Prototype and test process, including developing bills-of-materials and managing procurement of parts.
  • Functional and environmental testing of physical systems to meet design requirements.
  • Develop engineering fabrication and assembly drawing packages, applying relevant standards.
  • Develop drawing and technical data packages to support high level assembly and integration of mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Support existing product obsolescence, upgrade, production, and integration.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering, reliability, and design validation individuals/teams, including vendors, and contractors.
  • Develop specifications and engineering design documentation to ensure quality, performance, and manufacturability of products.
  • Writing technical sections and presentations for internal and external customers
  • Design, development, integration, and production support for limited runs of current and future products.
  • Collect and manage data for engineering work including planning, guidance, oversite, and delegation.
  • Support local and remote integration and test activities at various C Speed facilities.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • SolidWorks CAD/FEA, SolidWorks PDM and AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing and integrating at the systems and component level for DoD customers with emphasis on radar systems and sensor applications.
  • Experience with environmental packaging (shielding, sealing, ingress protection).
  • Experience reading/interpreting technical drawings.
  • Ability to create 2-D drawings and documentation with GD&T fundamentals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly – in writing and verbally.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred
  • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD/PDM.
  • Experience with Femap NASTRAN.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Flow.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Experience with structural design and analysis.
  • Experience with fabrication and manufacturing processes, techniques, and documentation.
  • Experience in developing hardware to ruggedization standards such as MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with global teams working across multiple time zones.
  • Hands-on experience using prototyping tools (hand tools, power/bench tools).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience.

EDUCATION
  • BS/BA in relevant field of study required. Related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of 2 years’ experience for each year of education.
