We are seeking for an energetic, dedicated and passionate 2IC/Assistant Service Manager to at join our growing organisation at Busy Bees at East Fremantle. Busy Bees is focused on setting the foundation for lifelong learning by creating a challenging and insightful program and want to hear from 2IC who have the same values.

Your approach will focus on purposeful observation of the important development processes of each individual child. You won’t be someone who rushes, forces or intervenes in their self-paced development. You will be respectful of all children who are discovering knowledge and new abilities. As the first point of contact for parents, exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly is essential.

We welcome you to bring the following skills and experience:

• A Diploma of Early Childhood Qualification
• A sound understanding and knowledge of early childhood developmental principles including the early years learning framework (or approved framework) – pedagogy
• Current Positive Notice Working with children check for child related employment
• Administration for a large service
• Administrative skills, including effective time and workload management
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with children and families.
• Good Leadership skills and a high level of self-motivation
• Flexibility with shifts between Monday – Friday
• You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job;

We would also like to hear from New Graduates or those currently studying towards their Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

A Day in the life of a 2IC/ Assistant Service Manager at Busy Bees will include but not be limited too;

• Meet and Greet families, children and visitors at the service
• Rostering, administration and enrolments
• Manage incoming/outgoing phone enquiries
• Assist the service manager with conducting tours
• Assist the service manager with interviews, phone screening, references and finalising new starters
• Manage family accounts through quikkids
• Step up in role of Service Manager if on leave
• Compliance documents within the service
• Assist on the floor when required eg; sick leave, lunch covers
• Assist with the development of staff
• Build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Through working in partnership with families, we provide the highest standards of care and are looking for a dedicated and experienced Cook or Chef to join our team in our service at Busy Bees at East Fremantle

The Opportunity

This exciting opportunity to join our well established service at Busy Bees at East Fremantle is one not to be missed, we are looking for a professional who is wanting a work life balance, loves cooking and planning meals and of course would love to provide the meals for the children.

As a Cook/Chef, you will be passionate about preparing fresh and wholesome meals for children, have worked as a cook planning budgets and worked with allergies and intolerances.

You will naturally maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements. You will be reliable, positive and well organised. You will enjoy working with families and children.

The hours are between 7am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. So if you want to remain in hospitality but no longer want to work unsocial hours – this is the role for you.

Your experience

• Experience and passion for cooking a wide variety of nutritious foods suitable for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old;
• Experience in development of a rotating menu, including catering for allergies and intolerances;
• Certificate in Commercial Cookery (desirable but not essential)
• Food Handling Safety Certificate;
• National Police Clearance Certificate or ability to obtain
• Current Working with Children Card or ability to obtain
• Experience working in a Childcare kitchen is an advantage.

A day in the life of a Cook at one of our services will look like;

• Engage in collaborative and partnership based relationships with Service Managers, educators, team members and family’s requirements regarding menu planning and meal preparation and prompt resolution of issues.
• Lead by example, demonstrating FEL’s values of Care and Respect, Innovation and Professionalism in the workplace at all
• Openly communicate with the Nominated Supervisor and team members, and report any challenges as soon as practicable
• Engaging with key stakeholders for the purpose of menu planning and implementation
• Ensure that all duties are performed at a high professional standard
• Display service menus as per FEL guidelines
• Ensure that any special dietary requirements of the children are respected and followed
• Order and arrange delivery of ingredients and products weekly as per the FEL menu guidelines, and ensure that food is fresh and temperature records are kept
• Utilise and adhere to the food safety plans of the service
• Prepare nutritional food according to dietary requirements and FEL menu plan
• Awareness of allergy requirements within the service
• Maintain up to date records in accordance with food safety plans
• Assist team members to serve and pack away after meals as required
• Clean kitchen daily and follow a cleaning routine for all appliances/areas of the kitchen
• Liaise with Nutrition Australia
• Engaging with the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
