• You have at least 3 years of experience working Non Profit Organizations.

• You’re pals with GAAP and have been through an audit or two.

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or something similar, and around 10 years of experience, preferably in a startup environment.

About the Role

• This role is designed to support our startup clients who need a Controller but may not have a need for an internal team at their growth stage (usually we work with Seed through Series C clients).

• We are a remote-first company so this is a fully remote role.

• This role has variety at its core. From facilitating client meetings to managing the month-end close process, no day will be a “typical day”.

Responsibilities

• You’ll be working with a variety of clients, the ability to context shift, communicate, prioritize and evaluate needs is the most important thing you’ll be doing in this role.

• You’ll be managing the entire accounting function for our clients, so you’ll want to have a background in management – whether that’s a function or a team, or both!

• You’ll have the opportunity to build out robust accounting processes and systems for our clients. So understanding + embracing the agile and scrappy nature of startups is pretty much a must.

• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include building and overseeing accounting processes for our clients (including monthly and yearly financial close, invoicing, A/R, A/P, general ledger, project accounting and cash management). You’ll also manage and improve upon existing financial systems (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com and Expensify). And, if you have a better tool for us, fresh perspectives are always welcome!

• As a Controller, you’ll support clients with new revenue streams, Due Diligence, ASC606, equity, GAAP compliance, audit preparation, and evaluating pricing decisions. You’ll help us determine appropriate annual bill rate changes, review PCE’s and client contracts, and determine payment schedules.

• You’ll help clients with risk management, business insurance, customer contracts + leases, managing their relationships with banks, tax accountants, and corporate insurance providers.

• You’ll be using Zoom and other video conferencing tools to facilitate client meetings.

Pay: Up to $120,000.00 per year
