Job Summary:

As a Senior Electrical/Embedded Software Engineer at Bullard you will work on life-saving innovative products on a wide variety of platforms and products. These include devices such as thermal imaging cameras used by firefighters allowing them to locate victims and the source of the fire much faster, or powered air purifying respirators which allow workers to breathe in difficult environments. You will work both on existing products – making them safer and more efficient – and future exciting technologies and products that will help even more workers come home safely. Being part of a small, dedicated team will allow you to have a strong impact on all the projects you are involved with and foster direct contact with other engineers and compliance & operation team members in a truly cross-functional environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: none

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead design, development, testing and release of software and firmware on both microcontroller and Linux-based embedded platforms
• Setup and maintain build systems
• Support the definition of engineering requirements and the architecture definition, early prototyping efforts, development and certification phases for new product introduction
• Support sustaining efforts by helping in analysis, debugging and fixing software issues on production-level products as well as participating in continuous improvement efforts
• Help select and validate new electronic platforms and suppliers
• Participate in longer-term research opportunities for innovative solutions

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong C/C++ programming skills
• Experience with kernel and device driver development and debugging
• Experience with build systems such as Yocto, Buildroot and embedded SW specifics such as Busybox, u-boot
• Experience with software management tools for version control and issue tracking
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Obsession with solving customer problems

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• Experience working on shipped products
• Experience with Linux graphical stack (DRM, KMS, GBM) and OpenGL/HW acceleration
• Experience in low latency, multithreaded solutions and modern thread-safe development techniques
• Experience working in cross-functional teams with purchasing, compliance, production
• Ability to read schematics and use oscilloscopes and logic and protocol analyzers for HW/SW troubleshooting
• Experience with camera-based solutions, thermal or other advanced imaging a strong plus
• Interest and experience in ML solutions

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering or related technical field
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software engineering

Pay: $100,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
