Building Block Commons Hiring for 2nd-5th grade PBL classroom teacher Job at Exeter, NH Full Time

Our team is growing! We are seeking a dynamic and inspired educator to join our school for the 2022/2023 school year. The mixed age classroom has between 10-18 students, depending on the activity. (Closer to 10 if it is math or literacy time, closer to 20 if the whole 2nd-8th grade is doing the project together and the other teachers are involved!)

Our school is a leader in project-based, multi-age & competency-based education here on the Seacoast. The very coolest part of teaching at our school is leading lessons that inspire our students to be life long learners instead of teaching to a standardized test. (Orton Gillingham literacy components and Eureka Math are part of the backbone to our content instruction… but so much room for creativity!)

The school is founded on a passion for the outdoors and a STEAM curriculum while assessing students based on the skills imperative for future success. (The Six Cs: collaboration, communication, content, critical thinking, creative innovation & confidence.)

New hires will be asked to build and teach project-based curriculum alongside the director, co-teachers, families and students. Idealists, dreamers, team players, hard workers, visionaries and those who inspire others must apply! Educators who have taken an alternative path to teaching tend to be very successful here!

All of us here on staff tend to text message each other nights and weekends when we do most of our dreaming! (We also have an early release on Wednesdays to work together!) While we do all want “time away” from work, admittedly, part of our school culture is dreaming up ways to inspire kids after school ends. We don’t have “papers to grade” each night, so instead, our “after work- work” looks more like posting photos from our day to SeeSaw and dreaming up next week’s adventures!

Phone interviews will begin the first week of March . Training and group introductions will take place throughout the 6 months prior to fall enrollment with possible opportunities to train alongside our current staff later this year if interested!
