We have a great opportunity for a Finance and Performance Analyst to join our small finance team working in the Adults & Heath Directorate.
At Buckinghamshire Council, we are thinking innovatively and commercially to make sure our communities continue to get the best from us. We want to make Buckinghamshire the best place to live, raise a family, work and do business. Our key priorities are strengthening our communities, improving our environment, protecting the vulnerable and increasing prosperity.
This is a fixed-term contract for up to 9 months.
As part of a small finance team working in the Adults & Heath Directorate in Buckinghamshire Council, you’ll provide support, advice and guidance to Senior Leaders, Service Directors and senior managers on service planning and budget management issues, both revenue and capital, financial controls, financial planning and contract commissioning and procurement, covering Care services such as Older People, Learning Disability or Mental Health.
You’ll also work closely with other Finance staff to provide technical and professional advice to other officers within the Council.
By working with us, you are part of something bigger. From supporting residents who are at the heart of what we do, to shaping our county for now and future generations – as a Buckinghamshire Council employee, you contribute to the local community, whatever your role. As one of the biggest local authorities in the UK, we are part of a network of partners spanning both public and private sectors.
Our services are wide-ranging, the opportunities to grow and progress are endless. Our commitment to work-life balance and adapting ways of working is shaping our working lives for the better. So from the moment you join us, we’ll support you to be the best you, every step of the way.
This role focusses on supporting Heads of Service with monthly budget monitoring. It involves analysing large amounts of data and presenting it to non-financial managers. It includes monthly reporting of other Key Performance indicators and responding to queries such as Freedom of Information requests. You will use data from both our business systems, CONTROCC, and our financial system, SAP.
Full-time or part-time hours will be considered, including job share.
Although this post is fixed-term, we are currently going through a restructuring process, so further opportunities for roles may arise in the future.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.
With up-to-date knowledge of accounting best practice and processes, you’ll have the ability to model, analyse and interpret complex financial data and present to non-financial managers.
An effective communicator with well-developed interpersonal, persuasion and negotiation skills to build relationships and influence the stakeholder community, you will be able to work under your own initiative, with the ability to resolve most problems without the need for escalation.
You’ll be Qualified AAT with relevant post-qualification experience and a demonstrable ability to work with minimal supervision.
The team you will be part of is currently working as part of an “any desk” model. This currently means working in the office in Aylesbury 40% of the time and working at home 60%.
Interviews will be carried out in the offices in Aylesbury.
For further information on this role please see the attached job summary.
