About this role
Working within a team, this role solely handles the Open Book obligations across the DFTS and IUS contracts. Transparency is an integral part of our partnership with the MoD to be able to build trust with them over the years. The role entails the following activities:
To provide robust financial data on complex customer contracts on a regular basis. Ensuring fair recognition of revenue and profit in line with company policy and appropriate accounting standards
Understanding the decisions made in contract to enable the creation of commentary for senior finance individuals explaining key movements or future effects
Working independently, with the financial accountants in charge of the contracts and wider business management community to ensure validity and accuracy of information
Review the Skynet bid model (£750m) and prepare for how the actuals will land in the P&L over the next 8 years
You’ll have the following responsibilities
Ownership of the DFTS and IUS Open Book obligations with monthly, quarterly and yearly requirements some needing CFO sign off. Ensuring information is accurate, representative of reality and explainable.
Investigating where processes can be modified to become more efficient or accurate
Focus on the following key areas: Accuracy, Timeliness, Fairness, Storytelling, Process Improvements and Reporting
Responsible for creating submissions in accordance with accounting standards that fulfil contractual obligations. To maintain financial integrity at all times and being able to support balances and identify risks and opportunities
Building a detailed finance P&L that will meet CGR (Contract Governance Review) standards, including which items are T&T (Transition and Transformation) and Capex
You’ll have the following skills & experience
Excellent analytical skills and strong commercial awareness
Robust spreadsheet skills (Excel)
Ability to work independently
Takes ownership for and delivers results
Strong stakeholder management; the ability to manage a range of stakeholders both internally and externally up to and including finance director level, and the resilience to challenge them
Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA)
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be willing to undergo Government Security Clearance to SC level, which requires residence in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
