Purpose of job
This role supports the work of the Finance and Accounting team on partner accounting and partnership tax.

Key responsibilities

• Partners’ services including payment, analysis and reconciliation of partners’ drawings, calculation of partner drawings and distributions and preparation of individual partner statements.
• Monitor partner capital, deal with annual capital call and arranging loan finance drawdown.
• Calculate and maintain schedules of partners’ current accounts in the firm’s nominal ledger.
• Deal with partner related audit and accounting issues.
• Assisting with Management accounting and budgeting, including preparation and update of budgets and cash flows for partner remuneration.
• Coaching and training the Partnership Accounts Assistant.
• Ad ihoc partner remuneration relates projects.
• Assisting the Partnership Tax Advisor in maintaining schedules of partners’ tax reserves for inclusion in partner current accounts in the firm’s nominal ledger.

Key relationships
The partnership accounting and tax team is split between a team in the UK and in the US which sits within the larger Finance and Accounting Department. The successful candidate will need to work closely with the US partner accounting team, the Partnership Tax Advisor and Global Partnership Tax and Payroll Director and also build good relationships with the Financial accounting and Cash Operations teams.

Experience and knowledge

• Part or full qualification in AAT or ACCA is desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrable experience of all or most of the key tasks as outlined above.
• Experience of working either in tax or accounting within a large business, ideally within a law firm or partnership group within an accounting practice.
