POSITION SUMMARY
The Merchandise Planner is responsible to maximize sales potential across their categories of business while limiting risk. He/She/They will collaborate with cross functional partners on the strategies that will generate high sales and profit while maintaining a healthy inventory turn. The Merchandise Planner is accountable for the development, coordination, and review of the product assortment plan as well as the financial planning, price management, and inventory of each category of business.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
– Drives the development of pre-season merchandise plans by analyzing current trends and historical performance
– Create preseason department/category targets to enable sku plan recommendations for line development and product flow to maximize results
– Manage in-season OTB and product assortments
– Identifies opportunities and mitigate risks; executes strategies to increase sales, margin, and turn to meet or exceed plan while mitigating risk and exposure by managing downside
– Analyze in season product performance by monitoring demand and adjusting forecast to establish appropriate inventory levels to maximize sales and profitability
– Develop analysis to understand significant variances to plan and develop future action steps
– Manage life cycle of products with effective markdown and promotional cadence to drive sales and achieve inventory turns
– Accurately forecast basic sales plans and work with business partners to manage appropriate inventory flow
– Collaborate with merchandising counterpart to develop buying strategies
– Work with allocation partner to help drive the execution of product distribution and inventory management
Skills & Requirements
– 3-5 years experience in retail planning
– Advanced business knowledge of retail, merchandising and price optimization concepts
– Readily grasps numerical concepts and interprets financial information accurately
– Strong problem solving and analytical skills
– Able to independently organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
– Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional partners
– Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with multiple levels within the organization
– Exhibits high standards and accountability; takes pride in accuracy
– Result-orientated and self motivated with a strong sense of urgency
