Job Description

Brock’s Academy is a Designer Education® program in which our teachers/tutors/mentors travel to the student. They work in homes, schools, or at our learning center located in Woodinville, WA. We provide premium one-on-one tutoring and private school instruction to children and young adults who are having a difficult time in traditional school settings. Our programs are custom designed to match each student’s learning style, interests, and academic needs.

We currently have a part time job opening for a Tutor/Mentor. Summer hours for this position is 8 hours per week, starting September 1 the hours will increase to 20-30 hours per week. Instruction is primaily online, but may transition to in person. At that time this position would require some travel.

Paraprofessionals or Instructional Assistants are welcome to apply. An ideal candidate would have special education, experience working with visually impaired children or young adults, be friendly, patient, and comfortable working with middle school students. This individual must also be capable of working independently.

They make learning engaging and fun. Relationship building is key. A teaching certification is not required for this position, but candidates must be able to build and maintain rapport with children and young adults.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and maintaining a genuine and positive relationship with the students, their families, and team members.

• Instructing the students in a 1:1 setting

• Helping the students with time and stress management

• Maintaining complete and accurate data and keeping records of sessions

Qualifications and Skills

• Education:  4-year degree (or equivalent) is preferred. A background in education or working with children is preferred. A teaching certification is NOT required for this position.

• Skills:  Ability to provide unique and individualized support and instruction based on the student’s learning needs.

• Misc.:  Reliable transportation.

Pay: $25 per hour
