Join the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) and help promote small animal welfare.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the development and delivery of BSAVA’s education strategy. Education is at the core of the Associations mission and this division already provides a full programme of quality education courses and accredited programmes.
The Head of Education will work with the CEO, the Board and wider Leadership Team to develop and deliver integrated education strategies for the Association. They will also support an experienced and motivated team to ensure delivery of our current programme of courses continues to meet the excellent standards that have been set.
About you:
The right person will be focused on the big picture and results driven, they should be able to work under their own initiative and meet deadlines. They will enjoy developing and coaching team members, collaborating with colleagues, the volunteer committees and external organisations.
It is essential this individual is able to build credible relationships and influence stakeholders. We are looking for a team player who can bring enthusiasm and passion for veterinary education to this essential role.
Skills and Experience:
We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of the veterinary profession and its education landscape alongside some experience of post graduate education within the sector.
A veterinary degree is essential as is experience of veterinary education, strategy development and business planning. This individual will work alongside committees and volunteers and so an understanding of this environment would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will have excellent oral, written and digital communication skills demonstrating an ability to produce clear and compelling and well-evidenced reports. They will have experience of budget management and excellent people skills, being able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders and successfully lead their team.

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association is a charity and a professional membership association, and its purpose is to drive excellence in veterinary practice to improve the health and welfare of small animals. With a membership of more than 10,000 veterinary surgeons, vet nurses and students, we work in the UK and internationally to promote excellence by enabling the community of small animal veterinary professionals to develop their knowledge and skills through leading-edge education, scientific research and collaboration.
Salary & Benefits:
This is a part-time role (24 hours per week), offering a salary between £60,000 – £70,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on qualification and experience. Benefits include hybrid working, a starting holiday entitlement of 25 days (pro rata) plus bank holidays (increasing by 1 day each year up to 28 days), free on-site parking, 7% employer pension contributions, private medical insurance with Vitality, Employee Assistance Programme and Life Assurance of 4x salary.
BSAVA HQ is located in Gloucester and many of the courses are run from our excellent education facilities located there. This role would suit remote working although the individual will need to be able to travel to the office on a regular basis.
