We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced HR Assistant to join our Head Office team in a generalist role.

We are an independent pharmacy chain with branches located in the East London, Essex and Bedfordshire areas. Established in 1984, we have 31 branches, a dedicated care home service unit, our own warehouse & distribution network, and central Head Office. We employ 400 staff across the company mainly in retail capacity.

We consider that a HR professional who can deliver in all aspects of HR is a valuable resource to a business .

The working Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.30pm. This is a office based position and we cannot accommodate flexible or remote working due to our business and operational setup.

Salary is dependent on experience and ranges between £24k to £27k PA to commence, with annual salary performance reviews.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Undertake all aspects of the “360 employment life cycle and activities”, including, recruitment, retention, training, development, performance management ER matter, grievances and disciplinary.
• Support the Day to Day HR function in ensuring a happy workforce and an operationally feasible business which is able to sustain and provide continued financial security to all its employees.
• Support the training and development of our teams by partaking in staff training days, projects to develop the teams.
• Working with the team to enhance the development and performance of our teams by streamlining current procedures, digitalise operational training, reviewing current systems, setups to ensure efficiency
• Support the payroll function of 400 staff to ensure rotas are closed correctly and promptly, staff hours are correctly reported and monitored, and absenteeism is addressed.
• Support the review and updates of our internal polices, procedures, documents (contracts, job descriptions, staff handbooks, etc) in line with current employment law, internal operations and guidance with a view to digital wherever possible.
• Keep abreast of employment law and changes and advise the company accordingly.

• Assist the HR Team with any projects and administration as required.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous HR experience in a similar role is a must..
• HR qualification, and CIPD L5 with a view to progress to L7.
• Experience of using HR systems
• Confident using of MS WORD and Excel
• Have excellent technical, IT and system skills “tech savy” !
• Be both a “Words: and “Numbers” individual, so that you deliver and support HR and Payroll confidently.
• Business and HR competent – you will be confident in understanding and merging the gap between the two in your working approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written business English. Confident in drafting documents to high business standard.
• A positive, proactive and experienced “team player”.
• Hardworking, enthusiastic individual with a Can-Do attitude.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work in fast pace environment.
• Ability to work flexibly, prioritizing workload.
• Forward thinking and results driven.
• You will have good common sense, and be able to take initiative, but also not be afraid to ask for help when required.
• You will have a high level of attention to detail, ensuring work is produced accurately and to the highest possible standard.
